By bike
The Elfstedentocht Bike Tour is one of the largest cycling events in the Netherlands. Every year on Pentecost Monday, thousands of participants complete the 235-kilometer route. Even outside of this event, the route can be easily divided into shorter day trips.
On the SUP
Friesland is best appreciated from the water. Large sections of the Eleven Cities Route are perfectly navigable by motorboat, rowboat, or canoe. For the truly adventurous, there are also multi-day SUP and canoe trips along the route.
On foot
For hikers, there’s the “Elfstedenpad” (LAW 14), a regional trail stretching over 280 kilometers. You’ll walk along grassy dikes, past tranquil canals, and through historic town centers. EuroParcs Hindeloopen offers the perfect place to rest along the trail.
